RTC Adds Service to RAPID Virginia Line

New Hours Effective August 1, 2021

 

Reno, Nevada (July 27, 2021) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County will extend the hours of service on the RAPID Virginia Line to improve convenience and attract new customers. The new service begins Sunday, August 1 to support students arriving to the University of Nevada, Reno campus and special events such as Hot August Nights. Hours will be extended as follows:

  • Weekdays – currently operates until 9:30 p.m.
    • Adding half hour service from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    • Adding hourly service from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. with trips ending about 1:30 a.m.
  • Saturdays – currently operates until 8:30 p.m.
    • Adding half hour service from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    • Adding hourly service from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. with trips ending about 1:30 a.m.
  • Sundays – currently operates until 8:30 p.m.
    • Adding half hour service from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    • Adding hourly service from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. with trips ending about 11:30 p.m.

 

The RTC RAPID Virginia Line is RTC’s highest ridership route with approximately 58,000 trips during the month of May 2021. Service on the Virginia Line was recently extended 1.8 miles from RTC 4TH STREET STATION in downtown Reno to the University of Nevada, Reno campus in March 2021, as part of the Virginia Street Bus RAPID Transit Extension project improvements.

 

“With the return of students to the UNR campus this fall, and the continued reopening of our economy, we are excited to offer this added service to everyone in our community,” said RTC Executive Director Bill Thomas.
