Virginia Street Project Progresses North to Vassar Street on Monday

Reno, Nevada (September 11, 2019) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is continuing the transformation of Virginia Street. There will be some upcoming changes to your commute as you head to Midtown Reno.

Starting on Monday, September 16, construction operations on Virginia Street will progress north of the current construction limits at Mt. Rose Street to Vassar Street. Virginia Street will be open to southbound-only traffic between Vassar Street and Regency Way. Two-way traffic will remain in place on Virginia Street south of Regency Way and north of Vassar Street. Northbound traffic will be detoured at Regency Way to Wells Avenue to Holcomb Avenue.

Construction on Virginia Street from Mt. Rose Street to Vassar Street will consist of sidewalk demolition and reconstruction. Midtown customers can use boardwalks to reach businesses, which will remain open and accessible. Roadway reconstruction on Virginia Street between Mt. Rose Street and Vassar Street is planned for next spring.
